King Miner Contest

Event Overview

Valley East Days’ King Miner Competition will be held on the festival grounds. Miners from across Ontario will be competing for $1,800.00 in prizes and the title of KING MINER! We encourage spectator to gather round and discover what happens beneath our streets. Register today for this Single Competition, as spots are limited (40 maximum).

Background Information

Mining has been a part of our community for over 100 years! To celebrate our heritage, Valley East Days will be hosting the sixth annual King Miner Competition. This year’s event will be heard on Saturday, September 7th!

The Competition

The King Miner contest features such events as: Jack Leg Drilling, Pipe Fitting, and Mucking. Skills, performed against the clock, first class miners in search for the title of King Miner. The contest is administered by Vale’s Mining safety Operation which provides our southern neighbours with a firsthand look at the endurance and skills practiced daily by the hard rock miner.


PPE required. We will have some on hand but we encourage you to bring your own. Pants, long sleeve shirt, glasses, gloves, hard hat, hearing protection and steel toes boots are mandatory.
